  1. Very interesting! https://techcrunch.com/2018/05/07/microsoft-and-dji-team-up-to-bring-smarter-drones-to-the-enterprise/ My take: Microsoft takes a big step into the drone industry and I believe we will see more drone-AI integrations coming from startups in the upcoming year.
  2. Hi all, I am looking to put a FLIR Duo on my F550 build. I am wondering what gimbal will be compatible with the N3 to carry and control the Duo? The Duo is made to work with most gopro gimbals but I can't seem to find any useful information on whether or not I can use a gimbal like the H4-3D with the N3? There is one source that said it isn't listed as a compatible gimbal but this doesn't seem conclusive to me. Any and all help is appreciated!

    DJI Spreading Wings S1000 Ready-to-fly

The DJI S1000 is the ultimate aerial platform for professional video production. This is a “ready-to-fly” package meaning all associated hardware & software have been installed, programmed, and tested. This is a barely used S1000 that has never been crashed and only flown three times. Everything is 100% functional and looks brand new. This drone has been upgraded with a Connex Hd video downlink ($1,600 value) as well as an SD camera for the remote PIC. Everything in this package is all you need to start flying besides the GH4. Note: you will need to already own or purchase a Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera and the Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm f/2 lens (willing to discuss sale of lens with purchase. Retail prices approximately $799.99). Everything besides one of the remote controllers fits in the hard case. All lipo batteries have only been used twice then put in storage mode. This package includes: DJI S1000+ Frame A2 Flight Controller with Gps Z15 Gimbal for GH4x (2) Futaba 14SG remote controllers Flysight 7" Monitor Xfold HD Monitor Pelican 0370 hard travel case for S1000 (2) lipo 16000mAh batteries 1 lipo 4500 mAh battery (for HD monitor) Hyperion EOS 720i Super Duo 3 dual balance charger Chargery Power model S1500 60A 1200W power supply unit 5.8Ghz Video Transmitter (AVL58) Connex Hd video downlink SD camera Hyperion EOS Pack Sentry battery checker I paid $11,889 initially for the drone in 2015, then made $2,070 dollars in upgrades in late 2015. Upgrades include: 1. Connex $1599.99 2. Connector Harness EC5 $25.00 3. wire for pilot view w/osd $25.00 4. HD monitor $240.00 5. HD monitor lipo $75.00 6. HD monitor custom wire $25.00 7. SD camera $80.00 Contact me with any questions that you have. Price is negotiable

    Hydro Magic

"If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water." - Loren Eiseley I cross the 'wrong-way bridge' in Cambridge most days of the week. With a morning mist settled over the Lamoille River, I stopped to grab a few shots from the air. What I didn't realize at the time - perhaps not even until I edited this entry - is that the water would be my subject.
  5. I am moving and need to sell this platform. The price has been reduced to $6,500.00 and the shipping can be split, I will entertain serious reasonable offers, shoot me a reply!! This unit is a solid platform and easy to fly, if you have flown other DJI products (Phantom or Inspire) you will find this as easy or easier to fly than those and this unit has less than 1 hour on it. I started my business focusing on construction inspection and engineering surveys, but life has pulled me in a different direction so I am selling my equipment. If I didn’t have to sell, I wouldn’t, the package includes the following: - 1 DJI Matrice 600 - 1 Matrice Controller - 4 sets of TB47S batteries (24 total) - 4 100W Power Adapters/chargers with AC Cables - 1 DJI Lightbrige 2 - Ground Unit - 1 Run Cam Owl Plus FPV camera - 1 Smart Powercharge SPCM100+ deep cycle battery charger - 2 Controller Lanyards - 3 USB to micro USB cables - 1 Go Professional - DJI Matrice 600 Travel Case - 1 Ronin MX - 2 Ronin Batteries - 1 Ronin Battery charger - 1 Ronin Controller - 1 Sony IR cable (allows the Sony camera to be triggered remotely) - 1 Remote start/stop unit (used to remotely start/stop video, and trigger the camera) - 1 Carry Bar - 1 Ronin Stand - 1 Custom Pelican 1560 hard case for the Ronin The pictures can be found here. My storage device takes a minute or two to load. Since these pictures were taken, the Matrice was assembled and test flown twice. Everything works great, just getting out of the drone business. https://files.mycloud.com/home.php?brand=webfiles&seuuid=3aaffc77b20824c3c439772fcc484011&name=Matrice_-

    Mavic Air

So just saw that we can pre-order this and I have been eyeing the mavic pro for a while, but I think this new looks to be even better for cheaper. I currently own a m100 that is setup for ag, so getting it out and trying to capture sunsets and other photos is a giant pain. Having a little guy like this that can be up in a couple minutes seems to be worth the cost. What's your thoughts on the product? screenshot from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j2lqAjMqJc

    DJI Matrice 600 for sale

All, I have a Matrice 600 for sale that was only used twice and has everything needed for a pro setup. The kit includes the following: - New DJI Matrice 600 - including the A3 and Lightbridge 2 built-in - 1 Ronin-MX gimbal - 1 Pelican 1560 carrying case for Ronin-MX (custom fit foam) - 4 sets of TB47S batteries (24 total) - (4) 100W Power Adapters with AC Cables - 1 Go Professional - DJI Matrice 600 Travel Case - 1 DJI Lightbrige 2 - Ground Unit - 1 RunCam Owl Plus FPV camera - 1 Smart Powercharge SPCM100+ deep cycle battery charger - 2 Controller Lanyards The Matrice was flown with a Sony A7RII with amazing results and I would keep the setup if I could, but I am getting out of the business and need the space. I have over $11K in the equipment, and am asking $8k, but willing to negotiate. No reasonable offer will be refused. I also have the two iPad Air 2's (128gb with Wi-Fi and Cellular) that were used with the setup, I would be willing to let those go for an additional $900. 13. I am about to purchase the Phantom 4 Pro for a pilot for a tv show. I've never shot with a drone before and was wondering if there might be any advice, tips, and or warnings before I make this purchase. I also have a film that I plan on using a few drone shots for this spring. Thanks again for your thoughts. - Brian 4 Bees Media, LLC

    My New Christmas Present!

Hello everyone, I just got the best Christmas present ever, a brand new Mavic Pro by DJI. I am really excited to fly this drone and learn about all the features and controls. I picked my drone out a few weeks ago after testing the Mavic Pro, I was hooked. I love how compact this drone is, high quality and able to handle some weather challenges. I also got 3 batteries that came with my drone, that's exciting and a battery docking station and car charger. I'm looking forward to hearing all about the Mavic Pro and learning from the pro's already using the Mavic.

    Ahhh the firmware update gremlins

Yesterday I showed up to fly a project with a message on my screen that an update was required. I've avoided the updates since June, and decided I liked the features in the newest release and I should go ahead and do this update. Updated the bird, got ready to fly and boom...brick. No feed from the camera, remote inputs all over the place and inconsistent, flashing green/red connection light on the remote. Controller firmware version reads: Unknown Device, Unknown Firmware. Called DJI support, explained the situation, performed a handful of manual firmware upgrade / update commands and no luck. Now my kit is boxed up, awaiting the shipping label they're supposed to send. I'll keep y'all posted as to how this pans out. The lady recommended I send only the remote controller, but I know better than that silliness. I did read about others having the same issues, some of whom received brand new Phantom 4 kits in return. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll send me a P4A

  17. Hi Everyone! I'm a student here studying for Part 107! Hope everyone's doing well : ) I'm interested in getting some feedback about my options for buying a drone with specific specs for a project I'm working on. OK so here it goes: Carrying capacity of up to 8-10 lbs Transmission distance at least 3 miles Ability to fly at least 6 miles roundtrip I have been looking at the DJI Matrice 200 & 600 but I'm sure there are alternatives out there...just don't know enough about all of the different manufacturers yet! I suppose a fixed wing UAV would also be an option. I really appreciate any help I can get as a newcomer here! Thanks!!
  18. Hi everyone, My friend, Devon, put together this brilliant resource on Ground Control Points. You don't need them most of the time but when you do, it's worth it to get it right. That's detailed here, as well. Check it out. https://blog.dronedeploy.com/when-to-use-ground-control-points-2d404d9f5b15
  19. There are some of us that have had a long standing "lobbying" effort with DJI to allow certified operators to completely opt-out, or turn off GEO and NFZs on owned DJI aircraft. We have been met with endless excuses as to why they (Brendan Schulman @DJI ) won't allow this. It's been reported that approved operators in Texas have overwhelmed the flysafe@dji individual unlock system (the official DJI mechanism currently in place to get GEO turned off) and in response, DJI has simply turned off the system in Texas. This is good for certified ops but could be bad for letting uneducated or nefarious operators fly as well. I brought up this point on RCG in the official "GEO" thread, and Ken, "Blade Strike" has hinted that DJI may finally be getting the message and that opting out may be possible in the near future (no time frame set) for certified operators. We'll have to stay tuned to see what transpires. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2573923-Official-DJI-GEO-System-News-Public-Beta-and-information/page563#post38223269

  21. Thought I would share one of my four cameras I had recording the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017. This was taken in southern Illinois over the Lake of Egypt near Marion. You will notice a distant (6.5 mile away) unpaved airports runway lights automatically turn on as the moon blocks the sun, before they turn back off (upper left corner). The colors were so surreal that color correcting seemed a bit off even though I remember the way it really looked. You can see the shadow approaching from the bottom right of the screen, and after the moon passes you will see the shadow come back in the opposite direction before I do spin to show the area I was flying. I experienced 2 1/2 min of complete totality. This was taken with manual exposure settings on a DJI Phantom 4 from about 380ft AGL. I filmed in d-log at 4k cinematic, 24fps and sped it up into a time-lapse. Used the lowest neutral density filter I had, which was a PolarPro ND-4 . Custom settings were -2 for sharpness, contrast and exposure. I used FCPX to do color correction and edit this short sample to share with you all. I have lots more footage of this spectacular experience to share with the world, from my Canon XH A1s, Celestron brand telescopes & binoculars, DJI OSMO+, GoPro Hero 4 Black and some iPhone7. Expect some more visual goodies very soon! Cheers and safe flying, -Ryan Deremo SkyFly Cinematics

    DJI has abandoned professionals

More opinion than news, Digital Photography Review contributor Ty Audronis talks about how DJI's latest firmware update prevents drones from flying in restricted airspace, even if the operator has gotten approval. I've seen my share of complaints from professionals on the forums. They get clearance to fly but they still can't take off, especially if they're using another 3rd party app outside of Go. What are your thoughts? On one hand, I can understand them wanting to avoid liability. But have they gone too far? https://www.dpreview.com/opinion/2028519692/has-dji-abandoned-professionals
