  1. Hi everyone, My friend, Devon, put together this brilliant resource on Ground Control Points. You don't need them most of the time but when you do, it's worth it to get it right. That's detailed here, as well. Check it out. https://blog.dronedeploy.com/when-to-use-ground-control-points-2d404d9f5b15

  3. A test flight in the woods to learn about flying in a more confined space. Few things I learned: - A lot more difficult to get GPS signal in the woods - Home points fluctuates, so keep an eye on that - Light conditions, specially at this time of the day not ideal with lots of shadows and highlights. Result below !
  4. Hi All, I was speaking with Alan today and he suggested I post on the forum here. I work for Prelaunch Labs and we are looking to partner with Drone Pilot Instructors on a program that involves the Epson Moverio BT-300 AR Glasses. These glasses allow the pilot to keep line of sight on the drone, while showing the flight data. If you would like more details about the program please email or call our office. 11. This is the extended version of a teaser video I've posted here before, hope you enjoy it, I'm experimenting with creating more engaging videos mixing different types of footage and varying the pace of the shots. This was shot during a weekend roadtrip to the Alentejo, during Carnival weekend a couple of weeks ago. Let me know if you'd like to see more of this and be sure to subscribe my youtube channel to get the latest videos I post.
  12. Hi all, Daniel Lench here from Gessner Engineering. Having flown RC helicopters and FPV drones in my personally life, and bringing the idea of using drones to add to our company's offerings, I've been the ground crew, trainer and data processor since we started our fleet in May 2015. We now have 2 eBee and 1 DJI Phantom 4 and while all of our survey crew has been certified to fly commercially for a while, I was simply unable to attend the training at the time. We are so busy now that I must be able to be the PIC on independent missions so here I am. The site was a recommendation of Sally French aka Drone Girl http://thedronegirl.com/ and I'm happy to see an active community behind it. At Gessner Engineering I am the CAD and BIM manager along with handling the processing of our collected drone data. I manage all of our AutoCAD templates, standards and training and specialize in extreme site grading using AutoCAD Civil3D. For BIM, using Navisworks, I am able to bring models from different disciplines to detect clashes in design and offer suggestions to remedy them. You can find me at the Gessner Engineering Main office in College Station. We have satellite offices in San Antonio, Fort Worth with two material testing labs located in College Station and Brenham. Our services include Civil Engineering (that's where I'll be ;), Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying and Construction Materials Testing in our AASHTO Certified labs. Best to all and hit me up if you're in the area or have a project we can work together on a project. Dan
  13. Hi all, I am looking to put a FLIR Duo on my F550 build. I am wondering what gimbal will be compatible with the N3 to carry and control the Duo? The Duo is made to work with most gopro gimbals but I can't seem to find any useful information on whether or not I can use a gimbal like the H4-3D with the N3? There is one source that said it isn't listed as a compatible gimbal but this doesn't seem conclusive to me. Any and all help is appreciated!
  14. Spent the weekend away at a B&B in Alentejo, Portugal and created a short teaser for a longer video I'm working on to document this trip. Hope you enjoy ! Continue to experiment with mixing different angles to create a more engaging video, using both aerial and other types of shots. This was all shot in about 1hr right before sunset using my trusty DJI Phantom 3 Standard, a Canon DSLR and GoPro Session (for the timelapse). Edited and color graded in Final Cut Pro X.

I've never shot with a drone before and was wondering if there might be any advice, tips, and or warnings before I make this purchase. 24. Hi from Australia, great to see an active forum with quality content. Have been involved in drones for around 5 years, built , repaired, flown and owned including Phantom 2, DJI f550, DJI F450, Blade 350QX, Yuneec, Currently use Inspire1 and DJI Phantom 4 Pro for commercial ops. Like the US, Australia's drone laws are in constant flux, here we are seeing some reasonable laws coming in, especially for commercial ops. Looking forward to learning and contributing.
  25. Hi, Gary Burtt here...jumping into the drone realm to add this to my photography toolbox. I have been a photographer hobbyist for a long time and am excited about the new perspective that drone photography can add. I started with a BLH8500 from Horizon Hobby and i got hooked. Just picked up my Phantom 3 Pro yesterday. Looking forward to learning about this bird and getting it ready for its maiden journey. I know i have a lot to learn and if there are any GOOD starting places, please let me know. I look forward to being part of this community. Gary
