  2. Long Range FPV drone

I am new to drones and I have only flown the Skyviper from walmart till date. I hear that to get a good video signal we need to use a specific radio frequency on the video transmitter and receiver. To this effect I wanted to know if I can upgrade the video and drone radio on the Rise Vusion 250 drone so it can fly out about 1-2 miles out using the FPV. I also want to be able to fly thru areas like abandoned construction sites where the signal is strong enough to go thru metal and cement with no lag. Can anyone suggest a good upgrade to the Rise Vusion 250 or if I should use some other fpv drone?

  4. Hello to everyone! We are Erle Robotics, a young startup that makes robotic brains and robots. Today we want to show you our most popular drone, the Erle-Copter! What is the Erle-Copter? A Linux-based smart drone with support for the Robot Operating System. Erle-Copter is a quadcopter for developers that uses the Erle-Brain 3 hardware autopilot and the APM flight stack. In a nutshell, it’s a Linux flying robot kit whose behavior can be extended in the same way you’ll code something in your Desktop Linux machine. It’s ideal for outdoor operations and it has been designed for an extended flight time (about 20 minutes) with a takeoff weight of up to 1 kilogram. Ready to fly! Modular Design Erle-Copter’s design makes it customizable to the point that you can include different modules such as antivibration system, cameras, gimbals, range finders, Electro Permanent Magnets, LIDARs and ALL YOU NEED. Create your own Linux flying device with Erle-Copter! It flyes, OK, and what else? And much more!! You can: 1. Make it follow you (feel like a leader!) 2. Control with your voice (who is the boss now?) 3. Return To Launch feature (return home little one!) 4. Attach a wide variety of sensors (check this examples!) 5. It flips! (Why not to have some fun?) 6. Plan some missions (even with your smartphone!) 7. Take pictures and videos in the waypoints or when you want! 8. And much more! The limit is your imagination! Or skill... ;-) Erle-Copter is offered at a 5% discount with the coupon code “promojun” at our storefront for a limited period! Hope you like it!
  5. Tattu and SP FPV Team spent 3 days in Kuitun river canyon, Xinjiang Province, China to make this video. FPV powered by great Tattu power flew over the great Kuitun river canyon. Such an amazing flight in beautiful scenery. Video was shot by Tattu and Super Pluse Team with DJI Inspire.

  7. Hi All, I was speaking with Alan today and he suggested I post on the forum here. I work for Prelaunch Labs and we are looking to partner with Drone Pilot Instructors on a program that involves the Epson Moverio BT-300 AR Glasses. These glasses allow the pilot to keep line of sight on the drone, while showing the flight data. If you would like more details about the program please email or call our office. 8. https://youtu.be/DmduyQUlDbs I should've posted onto this sub-forum, but I placed it in the wrong category. Anyways, I tried out the DJI Goggles for a quick PC gaming session. It was completely plug and play with no hassles involved. Also, I apologize for the out of focus video quality. Thanks for watching! Here are my opinions on it.1. Unfortunately, the low latency head tracking that works with drones doesn't work when passed through the HDMI cable.2. The video quality is surprisingly decent (1080p on each eye).3. My computer easily recognized it as a monitor input, but Star Citizen at times would cap out at 1080p resolution even on my 1440p monitor. So, I would keep the Goggles turned off until I've loaded Crusader.4. The cable isn't that long. I'm sure other cables could be used for it.5. The weight isn't bad, and the battery's supposed to last 6 hours.

  10. Hi All,I am looking to get an affordable long range video setup equivalent to the DJI Phantom 3/4 or better.I recently got a Cheerson CX-20 opensource. Which includes a mount for a GoPro.The is a cheap knock off of a Phantom, so the camera and transmitter would need to be of equivalent size/weight.My main goal is learning Arial Video and Photography. So this is a training platform to see what I can do, and decide if I need to save a few grand for a DJI, or end up finding out I can get buy just fine with a DIY setup.Camera Pre-Reqs:Should record 1080p minimum to a local SD card.Should be able to use a 128GB SD card (256 would be nice)It doesn't require a separate battery, the drone has 5v and 12v hookups. But I also read it is better to use a cam with a separate battery to avoid line noise.I would like the widest FOV I can get without getting any fish-eye effect.Transmitter:Would like to get 1 to 2 km of clear video like DJI. But my the CX-20 only has a 300 meter range. So at least this for a start. The drone's transmitter is 2.4G, so does that mean video should be 5.8G?Receiver:Any basic 5" LCD would be fine.Should it be a diversity receiver? (is that even correct? Something with two receiving antennas?)Like patch and cloverleaf? Or patch and regular?Does not need to display 1080p, though that would be nice. But should be clean enough that it can be used for very basic FPV (mainly lining up shots).I see after market action cams for sale on the cheap all the time.Like the SOOCOO C10S.Are these even viable? Can you hook a transmitter to them? Can you hook a transmitter to a GoPro?It doesn't have to be a GoPro or even an action cam for that matter. It could be an eachine mini as long as it meets the pre-reqs above. As for cost I am looking to stay around $100 to $200 if possible. But if that is not even viable, can you please let me know what I should expect to pay? I can get a Phantom 3 Standard for less than $500, so I would think a comparable aftermarket system should be less than half that? Or is DJI's propitiatory system just so ahead of the game, that getting a 3 Standard is really the cheapest option? I am very hands on with electrical and assembly, and built my own FPV goggles for less than $50 worth of supplies using the screen that came with one of my drones. So I am not afraid to get my hands dirty.Any other pointers or tips?Any links to some good tutorials or guides online?Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Chris

  12. OSD

Hey guys, I just want to ask if an osd would effect the FPV signal for a race quad, I am planning to use the TBS core pnp50 for the TBS unify pro. Does the firmware of osd affect the signal or the actual age of the product effect, thanks!

  15. Hello UAV pilots! I use a Phantom 3 Advanced for my aerial videography and a Samsung 10.1" tablet. I have put off FPV goggles for viewing as I would then need a second observer, but mostly due to the inability to perform certain tasks in flight that may need manipulation on the tablet screen itself, rather than the physical RC controller. The screen never seems bright enough at least to overcome the ambient light outdoors. Indoors ( without the drone ) it is quite bright enough, and in well shaded or darkened outdoor areas, it works fairly well. Regardless of the season or weather, I have serious issues in viewing the screen due to ambient light, or worse direct sunlight during the height of the day. I use a hood for my tablet. I even tried remote with the tablet using a longer USB cable while on a tripod and the hood. I had a typical screen protector initially and then changed it for a non-glare type which didn't help. This is a very serious issue that needs help if I am to perform. Has anyone had this problem and was able to overcome. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
  16. SYMA X5HW

Hi All, I would like to know if any one has had a look at the newer Syma X5HW drone. I am very interested in acquiring one as a way to start my practice with fpv. I was flying a Skywalker 1306 ( I think) in a rolling cage until I burnt out one of the motors trying to fly it in the wind. Not worth repairing it in Cape Town, RSA I have about 10 hours of flying time on that, which of course was 8 minutes flying and 1.5 hours charging at a time. They are reasonably priced in South Africa, relatively speaking, and just want some opinions on them. My aim is to eventually get a Blade Chroma 4K or something similar to that with a much longer range, as I want to use it for a bit of wildlife videography/photography. Cheers, Justin

  18. FPV Goggles

Here's a question that's been bugging me... If we're required to maintain line of sight to the drone, when would it ever be permissible to use FPV goggles?
  19. UAV Plane - Volantex Ranger EX

OK, here goes. On top of the various multi-rotor copters I already have, I am looking at adding a FPV Plane to my hanger. The specs so far is i have purchased the Volantex Ranger EX FPV plane. It has a 78" wingspan and lots of internal room. What I have read so far it is a decent and stable work horse that has plenty of space inside for batteries, equipment, and can have a camera on multiple locations on the plane. Also with multiple batteries in parallel can have an extended flight time. Some forums I read it can hold over 8 lbs of package and fly in the hours range vice minutes. We will see. Any words or suggestions would be great. With taking the ground school course and studying for the part 107, I hope I have time to start putting it together. I will start posting as soon as I can. I should receive it by Aug 22nd.
  20. Just got an email from them about the camera and thought you all might enjoy this and possibly find it useful!
  21. Hi! I have a question as is describe in the title. I see that there are many types and qualities but for a race drone with an F3 processor is more than enough .. have told me that the F4 is more GPS and photography. I have an CC3D and works very very well for me right now. What do you use? What think about it? Thanks to all!
  22. New from New Jersey

Hello, My name is Mike. I live in Rutherford, New Jersey and I work in Hoboken, New Jersey. I am new to the hobby. I have been flying a small indoor Quadcopter (Estes - Proto Z) for the last few months. I just pulled the trigger on my first FPV Racing quad. I purchased a Storm Racing QAV210, FrSky Taranis remote and FPV goggles. I am going all in on my new hobby! I look forward learning all I can about the sport, new rules/regulations/laws and possibly using this as a segway into a new career or business opportunity. I have also signed up for several meet up groups so that I can get out there and network with people who do this everyday.
  23. Hi All, I have a Phantom 3 and have adapted the tablet/cell phone holder with an after market extension for my 10.1 Samsung Tablet. To make things worse, beside the weight, the USB connector cable for the controller comes in the bottom of the tablet allowing the whole thing to rock with no other options. If the day is even partial bright, I have large issues trying to see what I am doing. With the size of my fingers and aged eyesight, using a cell phone seems out of the question even if bright enough. Does anyone have any ideas for a low priced, bright, sharp clear screen to specifically be used for flying my drone? I may be asking for my cake-n-eat-it-too.
  24. Hubsan X4 FPV H107D flying vid
