From my previous post I had issues with the version 3+ Silver. Their compatibility listing only shows

GoPro® with Solo 3-Axis Gimbal

  • Professionally stabilized aerial video (to within 0.1 degrees of pointing accuracy)
  • First 3-axis gimbal in the world to offer in-flight GoPro® control (via free mobile app)
  • Compatible with GoPro® HERO3+ Black and HERO4
  • They also have listing for the new Sony.
  • Not sure if the firmware for 3DR would work.
  • Waiting on a chat with 3DR to find out for sure or if they have any plans.

I haven't received word from 3DR. However the GoPro 5 Black has a LCD screen on back. Sealed to be waterproof. So the connection on the back is missing. Which will not work on the existing gimbal on the Solo. Connecting directly to only the hdmi connector without gimbal not sure.

So I believe not. Also here is some good  correspondence on the 3DR forum.

I received response back today from 3DR

The Hero 5 camera will not be compatible with the Solo and Gimbal and unfortunately, at the moment there are no plans in making a Gimbal for it, sorry.

Well this is the last nail in the coffin.

From my latest correspondence I had some more questions and their answer.

Hello Abraham
Yes later I did see other forums mention that.
However the other talk has me concerned.
1. That 3DR is no longer expanding into the consumer market, but the enterprise markets
2. That their no longer supporting the Solo only for the year of warranty for new purchase
So does that mean no development for solo on the consumer side?

That is correct Robert, right now 3DR will not be manufacturing more Solo drones or the idea of creating a new one. They are focusing on the enterprise software for now.
And yes, you will still have the one year warranty. I apologize if this is an inconvenience.

That is sad almost like reading what happened to the dot coms .

Well the sales are out there. My final cost for my Solo with gimbal, extra battery, and props came to $399. Also I bought an extra gimbal for a spare with my BestBuy coupon for $84.   The one have works pretty good and with Tower app performs the functions I need. For any extra or enhancements I go to solo mod club. However I still have a year warranty.

Hi...as per my knowledge whether or not 3DR supports H5 or vice versa perhaps its GoPro no longer supporting Solo, all we really need is a way to attach and power the new H5 gimbal. It sells seperately. Anyone know how much it weighs or the power requirements?
