Drone operator cited in Nashville

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing that was a stock photo of a drone and not the actual drone used.  The reason I'm pointing this out is because if it was an I2, DJI is forcing people to upgrade to firmware that mandates the use of GEO Fencing.  They claim you can opt out, but its a pain.  But if that's the case then apparently GEO Fencing doesn't work as advertised.

Having said that, given his age, the fact that he launched and recovered from the Fire Department parking lot, GEO Fencing presumably did allow him to arm [lets give DJI the benefit of the doubt that it works], I'd like to think that he did get permission to fly in the vicinity of the stadium.  Not over it, and I'm not sure who would have hired him and would have authorized this mission, but he can't be that stupid.  But if he is I guess he'll have is day in court.

The real concern in this article is:  "Authorities say a representative of Nissan Stadium also signed a citation as a private prosecutor charging Haddox with criminal trespassing because of the drone’s presence."   That's going to be interesting.
