  1. I am new to drones and currently have a Hubsan X4 that I fly around my property for fun. The mini would be used for the same, but with a better drone and camera, I'm sure I'll get more into the photography side of it. It would be nice to take pictures of the property and to use while traveling.
  2. Yes, I'm not sure which route I'm going to take, either self-study or the Drone Pilot Ground School. I can say that there is a lot of material out there to cover those additional subjects listed by the FAA which to me means a lot of self study. I would think that the course on here would narrow things down a bit and save some time.
  3. I took the course yesterday as well. In the introduction it tells you that it can be used by individuals to help prep for the aeronautical knowledge test but that it is only a part of what will be included in that test. It does give you other areas to study as well as links to resources for those subjects. Also gives you some sample questions of what to expect on the aeronautical knowledge exam at the end.
  4. Good information on utility asset inspections using drones. Has a presentation by Paul Schneider from Georgia Power that is similar to the one he gave during the Drones Flying Free webinar but is a little longer and he goes into more detail. His presentation starts at the 5 minute mark. https://geonet.esri.com/videos/3201?utm_source=geonet&utm_medium=social&utm_term=052416&utm_content=egug_webinar_051816&utm_campaign=utilities
  5. Got an X4 for my first drone (just arrived today) after reading the reviews on here. Completely new to this so I've read thru the manual and am ready to take the first flight when the battery gets charged. Had a question though. The battery has been charging for a while (maybe 1 1/2 hrs) does it take longer to charge for the first time? I read that charging time was supposed to be 30-40 min. Thanks.
