  1. Very cool show. Need more of this positive reporting and less of the negative.
  2. Check out this article. I wonder how far behind we are in this arena? LOL! http://futurism.com/japanese-company-launches-drone-delivery-service-golf-course/
  3. My flies really well, I've had no issues with mine syncing up at all. It took me a couple of times to get it right, like I said before. I was moving the stick too quickly and it wasn't working until I paused in between movements. I'm still working on my flying skills and I'm getting better each time I fly. I'm also keeping a logbook of all my flying hours (why? I really don't know, just seemed like the right thing to do). I hope you can get yours swapped out for a working one. Have you had any luck with that yet?
  4. That's a bummer about your broken quad, man. I only have the JJRC H8D and I haven't flown anything else so I wouldn't be able to tell you what else is good out there. This is the best place to find that information though. Eventually I want to get the DJI Phantom 3 Pro or Phantom 4, but, like you, I am still trying to find my wings. (Getting better by the day!). Good luck on your search.
  5. Hey JReeves24! I am a fellow military retiree (USN Chief). I, too, am intrigued by flight. I have been flying my UAV since December and I got bit by the bug. Good to see another retiree on here! Have fun and if you need anything from me, you got it, Brother.
  6. @Ratzo, Check out this video at the 5:02 mark. It's quick, but he shows how to sync it up. If yours isn't doing that, it's busted!
  7. Hey @Ratzo, I had issues at first with my UAV not syncing up. I was moving the stick too fast from one position to the other. You have to give it a second to register from one position to the other. If it still doesn't work, I would definitely look into getting customer service involved and get a new unit. Let me know how you make out. Good luck!

The jello is caused by unbalanced props, which are easily fixed with a prop balance checker, some gel glue and some fine sandpaper. But, I thought that this UAV would help you in getting your wings before you start filming, so to speak. No buzzers and whistles.

@Jon I have a Landvo JJRC H8D and it's cost is under $200. It's a great bird to learn to fly because there are no automatic features. You literally have to manually fly it. I have been sharpening my skills for about 4 months now and I will be upgrading to something along the lines of the DJI Phantom 3 Pro or 4 in the near future. I will feel much more confident in flying a $1300 UAV after I have cut my teeth on (and crashed!) a cheaper one. As for videoing real estate, I would definitely listen to Silk Purse and Alan. Just my two cents worth. Have fun!
  10. Hi Joe, good to see there are folks here from the J-Ville area. I am still in the flight training phase of my UAV career and I am getting pretty good at willing the UAV where I want it to go, so I guess that's a start! I currently fly a JJRC H8D (no auto-ANYTHING) so I feel it's a good platform to get started on. I am curious about a few things though. Are you currently flying and if so, where are you doing that? I am looking for a good area to fly in not too far from Orange Park. I have reviewed the B4UFLY app from the FAA as to the places that are restricted and as I thought, anywhere near NAS Jax is out of the question, as well as near all the other airports (Cecil, JIA, Herlong Field and Craig Muni...). Also, what UAV do you fly? I am already looking to make an upgrade within the next few months and I have been seeing ALOT of reviews on here as well as everywhere else. LOTS of info and comparisons out there! Alan has really done the UAV community a great service by providing this forum to share the information. Thanks Alan! Lastly, what are your aspirations? Looking to do this as a hobby, or get a business started? I am eventually looking to start an aerial videography/photography business in the future. I look forward to hearing back from you. Ray
  11. Hey Ricardo, Great to see a veteran owned company in this realm! I, too am a veteran and I'm proud to have served! Welcome aboard, Brother! Ray
  12. Great news, although like everyone else, I'm a little skeptical at this point. Hopefully (and I state that with a lot of trepidation!), the Government actually is good on their word and comes through.
  13. I'm looking for any JJRC H8D quad owners to ask if they have any ideas on how to use another camera/gimbal assembly besides the one that comes with it. Looking forward to hearing from you.
  14. Hello, My name is Ray and I'm a retired Avionics Technician Chief (U.S. Navy-ret). I currently work in the avionics field in Jacksonville, FL. I started flying my UAV last month and I'm getting the hang of flying it! My short term goals include getting better at flying and honing my videography skills (I am thinking of building my own brushless gimbal assembly). My long term goal is to start my own videography business. I am very interested in seeing where the FAA goes as far as licensing for UAV piloting. Hopefully, they can pass the NPRM that is currently under review. I am stoked about being a part of this community!
