  1. Note: Edited so that it now looks like a monkey didn't write it. New to Forum and I am no engineer. I need someone with an engineering background to provide a calculation and/or considerations relating the inner motor frame size to the 8 foot diameter shell I built to hold the frame. In other words, though obviously if the motors are close to the edge of the 8 foot perimeter it will be more stable (with a cost of in motor frame weight, I wish to calculate the minimum motor frame size I can use while maintaining stability to minimize the weight.
  2. Ducted fans are not more efficient than unducted due to the additional turbulence at the blade edge. More importantly, the blades are not exposed as much to breakage, which is a major source of revenues for the drone manufacturers as some cannot replace blades (skillset) and other will also break the motors.
  3. New to Forum and I am no engineer. I need someone with an engineering background to provide a calculation and/or considerations relating frame size and drone diameter. I have built an 8 foot octocopter based circular body and need to understand the relationship between the frame distance (center of circle of motors) and the exterior diameter and problems if I use the minimum frame size. In other words, a way to calculate/determine the impact from a change of stability in the angle of attack when the motor thrust is within a relatively narrow centerline relative to the diameter of the body. In other, other words, though obviously if the motors are on the edge of the 8 foot perimeter it will be more stable at the cost of frame weight, I wish to calculate the minimum motor frame size I can use while maintaining stability.
