About Me

  1. I'm getting more comfortable with the controls of the P3S and this weekend I decided to go to the beach in the evening to try out some additional capabilities, like the automated orbiting using the Point-of-Interest (POI) features. I also tried to do more of a planned shoot to try to create content that would allow me to edit and produce a very simple storyline and dynamic video. Check it out, it's one of my favorite videos so far:
  2. This is big news and an additional unique value for DJI products. If I understand this right, a drone pilot with a following on Periscope will be able to instantly and seamlessly broadcast the video live to anyone who patches in to their Periscope channel. Big prospects for sporting events, family events, and local news stories. This is a disruptive innovation that local news stations should jump on. Or we can have citizen news reporters use this. More thoughts? http://blog.seattlepi.com/techchron/2016/05/09/periscope-plans-to-allow-you-to-broadcast-live-from-a-drone/
  3. We shot his footage last fall at Jump Off Rock in Hendersonville, NC. We wanted to highlight the beauty of the area we call home. Other than some luma and contrast tweaks the colors you see are as they were. We also wanted see if we could pull off a CW 360 POI with a CCW 360 gimbal rotation while dropping 30 meters at the apex then returning to the starting altitude. It was a shot that came to me while we were there. We hadn't this before and this was our only attempt. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.
  4. Finally got to shoot some mountain biking. I would love to get your feedback.
  5. Hello everyone! I am a 28 year old from Raleigh, NC and I own a small film business(mostly music, promotional, skateboarding, and corporate videos so far). I am planning on buying a drone in less than 2 weeks. My budget allows me two choices: the DJI Phantom 2 w/ Zennmuse H4-3D gimbal or the Yuneec Typhoon G, as I own a Go Pro Hero 4 Black. After weeks of grueling research, I believe I've decided on the Yuneec Typhoon G, solely because you can video stream live and see what your recording in flight, unlike the Phantom 2. I'm extremely excited to begin learning how to use and properly film with the drone, but does anybody have any input on the Typhoon G vs the Phantom 2 w/ H4-3D gimbal? Any advice would help. Thanks!! -David Timmons

  7. Hi, I'm a 67 year old IT contractor from Tyers in Victoria, Australia. I am self employed and specialise in writing specialist software for small-medium businesses. A current example is an interface between a weighbridge and Reckon for a local sand pit. I've just purchased a DJI Phantom 3 and am learning to fly it. I'm exploring the idea of using it for industrial/ agricultural inspections. Tyers is located in the Latrobe Valley, an area with extensive mining, electricity generating and farming businesses. Becoming licensed for commercial work is somewhat expensive in Australia, so I want to ensure I have the proper flying skills and that there's a sufficient customer base and demand before I follow the commercial route. I'm not particularly interested in doing things like wedding videos, but will not rule out any reasonable idea. Even unreasonable ideas will be considered! I'd like to explore how to use the DJI SDK (software development kit) for development of software tools to assist flying and management of images. At the moment I'm really just exploring ideas. Pat
  8. So on my second day of flying I made a newbie mistake and ended up running out of battery and crashing my DJI Phantom 3 Pro. The battery warning came on and I thought I would have enough time to do try a "Return to Home" for the first time. BIG mistake because I forgot that the aircraft is set to rise 65 feet from its current altitude and then return to home. It was windy, but not too bad at lower altitudes. A wind gust took the aircraft out over the grass field I was at and out into a nearby corn field. The battery went critical and the aircraft tried to land itself. Problem was that the ground was very uneven which caused my Phantom to flip over onto its top as it tried to land. Thank goodness for prop protectors. Props were dirty and one had a corn stalk stuck to it, but otherwise no damage. Without the prop guards it could have been a lot worse. Rest of the day went well and the Phantom flew great on 5 different flights after the crash. Probably won't use the Return to Home button anytime soon... I'm just glad I didn't destroy it cause that conversation with my wife would not have been fun. Just thought I would share. Every flight, either manned or unmanned, is a lesson learned. Chris
  9. Hey all, This is Brad Spinuzzi with Adrenaline Aerial Imaging Inc. I am president and chief Pilot-In-Command for Adrenaline Aerial Imaging Inc. We primarily do construction, real estate, and industrial photography but, my passion is action and adventure sports of all kinds. I'll film that for fun any day, all day!! I am learning the "artistic" side of photography and working hard to improve my cinematography, piloting, filming, editing etc. My main experience thus far has been cold-weather, back-country filming, high altitude, commercial construction projects, etc. Always looking to learn from anyone willing to pass along some info and of course return the favor. I look forward to meeting you guys. I am very friendly, have a good (but sometimes ornery sense of humor) and willing to work with/for almost anyone. If you're ever in my neighborhood, shoot me an e-mail or give me a call. I'd love to go fly, film, learn, teach, partner, contract, sub-contract, etc. Now enjoy our flagship video, a little film of what I do in my spare time and where my heart is when it isn't raising my "herd" of children. Thanks for checking us out. Sincerely and Respectfully, Brad
  10. A short clip of some snowmobile wheelie action. Check us out on instagram. @adrenalineaerial. Enjoy.
  11. I'm shocked no one has posted up some of their work yet, but I am very happy to get it started! These examples were flown using Maps Made Easy and a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. Both shots have digital elevation models (DEM) as part of the ortho-mosiac. You can turn on the DEM in the upper right hand corner. An office building in Lakewood, CO My townhouse complex in Arvada, CO I cannot wait for the weather to warm up so I can go shoot some more missions like these. In my opinion the photogrammetry is one of the most amazing things coming out of UAV technology combined with MASSIVE online processing power.
  12. Good looking forum! I just picked up a Phantom 3 Pro and was very hesitant to do so because of some of the issues reported with stress cracks that sometimes appear in the underside of the motor housing. No problems with mine (...a low flight time, pre-owned quad) so far. However I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if anyone has found a way to avoid it.
  13. Hi , My name is Jose Im interested in aerial photography.
