About Me

  1. Hello… I am an engineering student working on a project based on NDVI calculation to monitor the crop health. I used the PiNoIR camera with blue filter for my experiment in order to obtain the values of NIR and Red region. I used the following code to extract the required values and to calculate the NDVI. But in the output image, the empty regions (area where no leaves are present as shown in the below figure) and ground have higher NDVI values. The shadowed regions are shown in the range 0.5 to 0.6. I wanted to know whether the output is correct and what corrections can be done in the -code in order to correct the error. The code is given below. from PIL import Image import numpy as np import cv2 from cv2 import imread from matplotlib import cm rgb_matrix =cv2.imread('inputimg.jpg') w=rgb_matrix.shape[1] #columns h=rgb_matrix.shape[0] #rows print(w) print(h) #Compute ndvi values for each pixel #NDVI=(NIR-R)/(NIR+R) res=[] for i in range(h): row=[] for j in range(w): val=rgb_matrix[j] n=val[2] r=val[1] num=((int(n)-int(r))) den=((int(n)+int(r))) if(den == 0): r=0.0 else: r=np.divide(num, den) row.append(r) res.append(row) print('Done') #based on NDVI values, give different colors for easier identification for i in range(h): for j in range(w): if(res[j] >=-1 and res[j] <0): rgb_matrix[j]=[128,128,128] #grey elif(res[j]>=0 and res[j]<0.2): rgb_matrix[j]=[64,255,0] #parrot green elif(res[j]>=0.2 and res[j]<0.3): rgb_matrix[j]=[125,255,255] #yellow elif(res[j]>=0.3 and res[j]<0.4): rgb_matrix[j]=[0,128,128] #dark green elif(res[j]>=0.4 and res[j]<0.5): rgb_matrix[j]=[255,255,0] #sky blue elif(res[j]>=0.5 and res[j]<0.6): rgb_matrix[j]=[255,51,153] #purple elif(res[j]>=0.6 and res[j]<0.7): rgb_matrix[j]=[0,128,255] #orange elif(res[j]>=0.7 and res[j]<0.8): rgb_matrix[j]=[255,43,255] #pink elif(res[j]>=0.8 and res[j]<0.9): rgb_matrix[j]=[40,40,255] #red else: rgb_matrix[j]=[255,0,0] #dark blue cv2.imwrite('outputimg.jpg',rgb_matrix) print("Completed!!") pixhawk models

Hi, I am building a cellular controlled drone with raspberry pi and I am wondering what is the best flight controller to use. I found some pixhawk versions, whats the best one for a regular user with a simple cellular controller?
  5. So, I am building a hexacopter and I have picked my parts, but not yet ordered them. I am pretty sure this is a good configuration, but I would appreciate any thoughts and/or ideas to improve or tweak it. It is meant to be able to handle medium weight camera and sensor equipment. It will also be used in subzero conditions. It should be able to go long distance with video feed, but I have not made up my mind on what to use for that yet. It should also be able to fly to GPS coordinates automatically. Parts: - S550 hexacopter frame - 2830 1000kv outrunners - Turnigy plush-32 30A w/BEC speed controllers - 10x4.5 propellers - PX4 pixhawk 2.4.8 32bit, ardupilot (gps, osd, 500mw telemetry) - 5000mah 4S 60C battery (might use 2) Total weight with everything listed above & wiring is ca 3000g. It is absolutely not ment to be a racer of any kind. I value stability and flight time. I do plan on 3D printing custom parts and to make protective and aerodynamic casings/covers.
  6. Hello UAV community, For the past 4 years, I have been working as a drone operator and aerial cinematographer around the United States. I recently moved to Puerto Rico to pursue a documentary project and have decided to start a different kind of drone business with a local colleague. I am looking for advice on the most popular drone models that are currently used for damage/structural inspections, 3D mapping, and surveying (I understand that this is probably 3 separate drones). I could repurpose my Mavic Pro and Inspire 2 for this venture, but I imagine there are systems that are better suited for this work. While I have extensive experience flying for film and documentary clients, this is a totally green area for me. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  7. 👉 If you have a business drone for delivery, security, ambulance using Ardupilot/PX4 firmware, it is necessary to play live video from drone footage for your clients/partners from your application. And XBStation offers the ability to do that. 👉 If you have a drone live event, by using XBStation, allows you streaming live video to social networkings like Facebook, Youtube 👉 Your clients/partner can lay video in many playforms: Web browser, IOS device, Android Device, Desktop Application, ... How it works XBStation generates an RTMP stream for the drone video and uses the cellular network transmit to Ground Control Station to archive low latency video Then, station transmit the RTMP stream to Media Server like Wowza From there, your clients can access live or on-demand video output from any device, browser, location, any platform Support Playback Player: Flash HTTP (20s latency) Flash RTMP (5-7s latency) HLS (IOS/Mac/OSX/Android) (15-20s) MPEG-DASH (20-25s) Silver Light 👉Video below we stream video to my website demo with RTMP Adobe Flash Player For more infor, visit: https://xb-uav.com or contact us creator@xb-uav.com
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdchpXo2KSs&frags=pl%2Cwn Hey guys, I just made this video of my trip to Thailand, it’s all shot on GoPro and the Mavic Air. I would really appreciate it if you would spend a few minuts to check it out and maybe sub + like and comment the video as well. It would mean the world to a newbie like me Thank you so much!
  9. Hi UAV coach community, I wanted firstly to personally extend my thanks to the administrators of the forum who have said it's okay for me to post here but please do speak up if you feel this is not appropriate here and I will move on. I am writing from https://dronecloud.io/ a new drone management platform focussed on the business of running a drone operation. Dronecloud is the direct product of 6 years of commercial drone operations. It is funded, designed and managed by drone operators. We are currently looking to spread the word and get as many people trialing the platform as possible and we would welcome any of you to come along and give us a go. Please find our official press release attached and our introductory video below. Your feedback (good or bad) is also very welcome. Thanks Dave 190618 Dronecloud Platform Launch_FINAL_A1.pdf

Thank you in advanced. P.S Sorry for my bad English.
  11. I recently posted a video. This new video is about the benefits of being a drone pilot. While being able to make a living or even a part-time living as a drone operator can be difficult, It can also be very rewarding! The link is below and for those who do fly fulltime or part-time what do you think are the best benefits? Let us know in the thread!
  12. If you are interested to be a drone pilot or finding job as a drone operator in Australia then Drone sales Australia is a leading drone classified site here you can find a best DJI drone sales, services, training, operators jobs hire Australia.
  13. DJI Mavic Pro for sale. Includes Extended Flight Combo, The Original DJI Carrying Bag plus a $129 Lowe Pro Viewpoint Bag ($129) that is brand new. Over $1430 of gear Total. Asking $1300 Total. I got it to film stuff for my blog but just ended up hiring photographers as I tend to be in the videos and it's a bit hard to be both in front of + behind the camera at the same time. I've flown this thing like two times. I have barely used it. It's in great condition and perfect for someone who wants a great machine at a discount. Would like to do an in-person dropoff/pickup, but flexible depending on the buyer. I will upload photos later tonight. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
  14. Hi.. I have to show live video streaming in iOS app, but I am unable to show it, Can you please give me any solution.
  15. Alan You sent out a email about the company Drone Base. I was excited about not having to go out and find customers. I logged in as a pilot on Drone Base and started looking into how this business model works. Drone Base gives lots of information about how they work, one grade that caught my attention was "potential to get paid". Long story short all of the jobs shown on the map are generated by MLS data (Homes for sale), I could not find one paying client job marked on the U.S. Map. I'm personally not going to waste my time taking and uploading stock footage to a website without a client for 2 reasons. 1. I'm "potentially" (90% sure) not getting paid. 2. As a commercial drone business and not having a signed release/contract for the job these MLS generated job locations present issues. The owner of the property is rightfully going to know why a drone is circling his property. Also in my neck of the woods (Los Angeles) someone will at some point call the police and their going to want to see some sort of documentation on the job. So although I love the idea of Drone Base until they get some actual cleints I see "potential" trouble for us.
  16. Hey Pilots! I had to do some airspace research for an upcoming and I found this great resource for drone airspace that is administered directly from the FAA. Here is the link: https://faa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=9c2e4406710048e19806ebf6a06754ad What I like about it is that it tells you: 1. Airspace Class 2. The Ceiling 3. Associated Airport (in case you need to call in) 4. And if it is LAANC ready or not ready I hope this helps pilots in the field and those that are studying for their Part 107 test. Let me know your thoughts below. Best,
  17. Hi all, just trying to pick your brains a little bit. What do you think is the average number of flight hours at which you would consider someone an experienced drone pilot? How many flight hours would make someone an expert? @Alan Perlman Since you deal with so many pilots, would love to get what you think too!

  19. This is a question and not an answer. Also, it is not a challenge to real estate drone photographers, but rather a possible opportunity to illustrate the ways in which they are useful that most people would miss. I'm just curious about what added value a home buyer or real estate buyer would get out of drone media taken of their potential property? What should they be looking for in drone media that they could not see in any other way? For example, what does the neighbor's yard look like? Roofing flaws? Proximity to railroad tracks and busy roads? Proximity to industrial parks? I would like to see an article outlining the special benefits of drone media to the home or real estate buyer. These answers could also be useful to news media drone photographers as well. What could the reader look for in drone photos that they would not think about finding any other way?
  20. Hey Everybody, I see there a lot of new drone pilots joining the community, one of my earliest struggles in the industry was actually buying a drone! I made a video and wrote an article about a couple of things you need to consider before buying your first prosumer drone. Below is the video and here is the article: https://dronexcaptain.com/2018/11/26/so-you-want-to-buy-a-drone-things-to-consider-first/ If you find any of this information of any value please let me know in the forum comment section. Also, UAV Coach has a great and in-depth guide for professional drone models (2018) on their website. Check it out here: https://uavcoach.com/professional-drones/ Best,

  23. Greetings fellow pilots, first post here. I usually just read what Alan sends out and move on. Today's email included some talk about how it's impossible to fly drones in national parks. I am here to tell you that this is untrue. With proper permitting you CAN not only fly, but record video and photos too. I received permitting and commissioned flights for 23 campgrounds within the Coconino National Forest in Arizona during the fall of 2017, producing video and photographs for the campground websites. Just call the permitting contact for the National Forest and request a permit application. You will need to provide detailed flight plans, proof of insurance that includes the United States of America as "additionally insured", and a reason for flying/ filming that convinces the ranger in charge that the permit is worthy of being issued.
  24. Where are all the drone jobs at???? Where can I get real estate drone jobs? Energy Jobs? Etc???
  25. Want to test the drone using and zigbee module communciating in raspberry pi, Whenever there will be shortage of power it will check the range and calculate the distance between remote and itself and comeback in time so that it will not power off and while this method is working other methods will get stop for that time, I am new to code this kind of solutions, so any suggestions to make this kind of work useful will be very helpful.
