  2. Good advice on practice. Training flights are FUN! Each maneuver is scalable. Circularizing your flight, especially in tight regimes, is the toughest! This is by courtesy of Scott Burgess, PhD, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and their small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) program. Have fun, and to borrow from Scott Manley (youtube - DSnM), "Fly Safe!" Basic maneuvers to practice to proficiency: Square flight pattern with aircraft heading away at all times Square flight pattern with aircraft facing toward at all times Square flight pattern with aircraft pointing into the square at all times Circle flight pattern around the square with the camera continuously pointing at the center at all times
  3. Greetings, Have any of you gone through the UAV Coach hands on flight training? If so where did you train at and what is your evaluation of their training. I just booked a 90 minute course at Grand Bay, Alabama. Comments please Thank You
  4. Hi, I'm a new drone enthusiast and would like suggestions on where to start. On vacation I ran into a guy flying his drone and had such a great chat with him I thought I'd like to do that too. He talked about all the business opportunities and what fun he had doing it I just had to learn more. I would very much appreciate any and all suggestions on where to start, licensing, training and anything else you all could share about learning about drones and career opportunities. I'm in los Angeles so if any locals are willing to take on an apprentice I'm open!
  5. Anyone here have experience with event? They are coming thru Denver and am determining if it is worth the 3 days of time and money. Thank you
  6. Hi all, I am planning out some improvements and updates to the Post-Production course and part of that is a consideration for making some new screencast videos on either new topics or going more in depth on a topic already covered. So, wondering what everyone thinks should be included and hoping at least a few of you have some time to share more in-depth thoughts over email or a phone call. Just let me know, want to make the course something that appeals to even more students if possible. Best, Christian
  7. Hello! Does anyone have any experience with Drone Simulators? I'd like to purchase one to improve my flight skills without possibly sacrificing one of my actual sUAS babies! I've looked into Zephyr and RealFlight. Anyone love either of those or have a different recommendation? Just passed Part 107 with a 93% so its time to log some hours and hit the ground running! Thanks!
  8. Little Arms Studios just released its newest build of Zephyr Drone Simulator, a professional-minded simulator already adopted by various flight schools within the U.S. and abroad. We felt this release was particularly noteworthy, however, because we’ve completely redesigned our website and given a new look to the Learning Management System interface. In addition, we’ve now packaged two different popular controller styles or a versatile USB adapter with Zephyr so that pilots will be able to select a complete hardware solution that meets their own preferences. As UAV Coach has a vibrant community we wanted to let everyone know about the newest developments with Zephyr. If you’ve been aware of us in the past we welcome you to come see how Zephyr has transformed into a powerful training tool. If you’re just finding out about us for the first time come discover why Zephyr is a steadily growing platform for serious sUAS training. You can view our full press release on sUAS News.
  9. Hi all! We're opening up enrollment to our newest online training course, Aerial Post-Production 101, tomorrow morning: @Christian Tucci, our instructor, and all around post-production guru / nice dude, will be working 1:1 with students to develop demo reels and to teach concepts like assembling rough cuts, transitions, coloring, music, and post-processing workflows. Christian reminded me this morning that video editors can charge $250+ / hour for post-processing $199, I feel really good about the value students will be getting in this course. Almost 6 hours of video content! Personalized instruction and 1:1 support from Christian! To ensure that each student gets quality attention, we're limiting course enrollment to the first 100 students for make sure to join our pre-enrollment list to get notified when we open up enrollment tomorrow. Happy to field any questions about the course in this thread. Hope you all are doing well / getting some flying time in!
  10. Hi There, I am a Canadian photographer and bought a DJI 4 last week. I am teaching myself to fly and having a great time. Do you need drone training and certification in order to market yourself as a drone photographer (video & stills)so you can sell your services for private commissions? What happens if I work in the USA? Thanks Sid
  11. Hello all, I'm currently working with VA Vocational Rehab to get some UAS training and certification, but I don't want to be limited to quadcopters and photography. What would you recommend for a civilian to train in fixed wing drones with a focus towards law enforcement? I am pushing for them to send me to UND Fargo but I would like to know if there are other options. Thanks in Advance!
  12. Hi all! Excited to announce that our UAV Coach Aerial Cinematography Training Course will be going live soon, in July! The final touches are being put on the course and its content. We have some great training material for you all and hope you will sign up on the promo page below for further updates. The course is going to cover a HUGE amount of material and concepts from aerial camera system theory, digital cinema camera basics, Stabilization 101, image control, and 2 dedicated modules on post-production editing, music, transitions, and color correction! After you take the course you are going to be capable of shooting aerials that help to tell a story, one of the main goals of any professional cinematographer. You will then be able to edit this footage into a professional, high-quality reel perfectly synced with music and color corrected to really make the footage pop! We even shot a short action film complete with aerials and ground based footage to demonstrate and teach you the topics in the course through a unique perspective. During the course, and even after it ends, you will have full access to myself and my co-instructor, Brendan. You can ask us any questions you would like, show us your footage, and get our feedback on your cuts. We are excited to work with you all and see what you can create! Check out the promo page above to sign up for updates and to watch the promo video. See you all in the course! ~Christian T.
