  1. I passed my 107 test and my temporary cert is in the system. I have a few potential opportunities to use my drone for work related items. Am I allowed to “work” with a temp ticket?
  2. At other conferences I’ve attended in different industries, training for certifications are provided during the weekend before the actual conference. I’m just curious to know if at any UAV/S conferences, there is pilot training over a long weekend, or during the conference, that would lead to certification. Any other suggestions for a condensed and focused course (not internet based) that would lead to a UAV pilots license is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Has anyone that past part 107 recieved their temporary certifications yet? I'm going on 6 days now waiting for mine. I think when I finished the application it said 36 hours. Jake
  4. Hello all, I am a part 107 certificate holder located in Los Angeles. I have some questions about an upcoming shoot that I've been hired to do in New York City. A high-end property management company has hired me to shoot drone footage of three of their buildings in New York City at the end of July. 2 of the buildings are in midtown and 1 of them is in the financial district. I have a few specific questions regarding these properties... 1. According to Airmap, there is a permenant TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) around the southern part of Central Park extending about 10 blocks south of the park. I imagine that this is because of Trump Tower but I can't be sure. It seems difficult to believe that this large area of Manhattan is permenantly off-limits even when the President is out of town. Does anyone have any information about this? 2. The building in the financial district (55 Broadway) appears to be in class G airspace which seems hard to believe. My general question about flying professionally in NYC is if there are additional, local actions that need to be taken even after obtaining an FAA part 107 waiver? Does anyone have any information or experience flying for clients in Manhattan? I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks!
  5. I recently received my 107 certification and would like to start making money by offering contract services. In addition to my Phantom 4 Professional, I am waiting on a Matrice 210 with an XTR and Z30 so I can offer high-end services. I have 6 years flying drones for recreation and fun and am now looking to transition into it professionally. Problem is, I don't have a clue how to begin. I don't really want to start a company where I have to go out and generate business but would rather just contract with one or more already established companies. I live in the Tampa, FL area and would be willing to travel as reasonable. Any suggestions on how to get going with this? Thanks
  6. This topic might have already been covered but I am very green to this industry and simply don't know how to proceed with a few things. First, I passed my Section 107 and am awaiting my temp certification. Once I have that I have several places to fly for customers and I want to make sure I do things properly. IF i find myself in a position where i need to contact a tower for authorization to fly, how do I go about doing that? Please don't hammer me if this is a overly discussed procedure but Im simply wanting to make sure I do things the right way. Jake
  7. Once you fill out the iacra stuff, how long is it taking to get your temp certificate back? jake
  8. Here is a link to the FAA "Part 107" update........ The Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the final Small UAS Rule this morning. The press release is available at: https://www.faa.gov/news/press_releases/news_story.cfm?newsId=20515.
  9. Hi everyone. I am an avid RC enthusiast (since 2010) and somewhat close to retirement from the military. I am looking to start an aerial video service as a side job and very excited for the prospects... Looking for any information right now on 107 certification and drone business tips/information. My goal is to provide a one stop shop for aerial video services focusing on: - Real Estate - Special occasions (weddings/parties) - Land surveying - 3D mapping - Commercial aerial videography I appreciate this forum and any feedback on tools/tips/trends/etc. Many thanks Jason Taylor
  10. Greetings all, FYI. I attended an FAA briefing on 1/16/16 in Chandler, AZ. The FAA presenter(from the UAS integration office) was very confident that the Part 107 commercial operations rules (no manned aircraft pilot license required, written exam for UAS certificate) will likely come on June 2016. I know it's the government and deadlines have come and gone, but for what is worth; there may be light at the end of this tunnel.
