  2. Hey guys, so I have been traveling around Europe and tried taking a few aerial shots at night. So far, this seems like the most successful shot I have which was over at Romania. What do you guys think? I have also been experimenting with different equipment to use with my drone and finally settled on the Sony Alpha 6300 and the Gremsy T3 gimbal. Hope you guys enjoy this shot!
  3. Hi guys, Here is a hurdle a ran into while re-doing my website, very curious to see who can give a really good answer but I have been breaking my head over this. With the variety of services you can offer its tough sometimes to name all of them. So my site has specific services like real estate photography, but how do you separate them so that you cover everything but are not too specific so that you appeal to both commercial and residential. It also does not help there are 10 ways to name the same service like "aerial photography", "drone photography", "UAV photography". Am I over thinking this? this is my site www.heightsaerialmedia.com
  4. I found this great drone app on the App Store called Drone Start, it offers everything you need to fly commercialy. Drone Start is the ultimate flight check & planning app available on iOS. 7. One of my favorite photos, Laguna Salada de Torrevieja in Spain. No editing required. The algae and salt turns the water a pink hue. Shot with a Phantom 4 Pro and I used a Polar Pro ND8 filter.
  8. Hi all, CAVU Media created a 1,300+ acre map of New Orleans City Park. They were able to achieve higher resolution on the imagery w/ drone mapping software compared to traditional aerial photography. I would love to know your thoughts on this study as I've gotten some interesting feedback and challenges from posting this article. https://blog.dronedeploy.com/mapping-large-areas-drones-create-high-resolution-map-of-1-300-acre-urban-park-5637c6f055e1
  9. Below I am submitting the final project required for the graduation of Ariel Post Production 101. I used iMovie to edit this video. However I am purchasing Final Cut Pro in the very near future. A lot of the editing techniques and controls are similar to Final Cut Pro. 1. the resolution I used for this video was 1080 P at 60 frames per second. I showcase this video on UAc Coach, Vinmeo, Facebook, and Instagram. 2. I tried to use music that showed the dynamic footage and the awesomeness of the wind turbine. 3. I tried to showcase the dynamic size and beauty of the wind turbine I. 4. The story is a simple one. I'm trying to illustrate and advertise the ability to do an aerial visual inspection of the wind turbine. The clarity of the camera and the dexterity of the footage. 5. Three important lessons learned in editing this video, 1. Important to find music and the duration to correspond with the time you want to display the video. 2. I wished I captured a higher view encapsulating all the wind mills in the entire area. Looking back should have been more. 3. One of the important things I learned from the class and editing this video were how to use transitions effectively utilizing the beat of the music. This class was a great help to me in learning the process of editing video. I highly recommend it. I'm also extremely interested in the views and advice I can get from others who have viewed this video. Good or bad I'm looking forward to knowing what I can improve on.
  10. Hi Here is one of our real estate videos for a property in Highlands, NC. Thanks for watching flybystudios8.com
  11. Hi from Australia, great to see an active forum with quality content. Have been involved in drones for around 5 years, built , repaired, flown and owned including Phantom 2, DJI f550, DJI F450, Blade 350QX, Yuneec, Currently use Inspire1 and DJI Phantom 4 Pro for commercial ops. Like the US, Australia's drone laws are in constant flux, here we are seeing some reasonable laws coming in, especially for commercial ops. Looking forward to learning and contributing.
  12. Hi my name is Iain from the Stonehaven in the North East of Scotland. I initialy bought a used 450 quadcopter a couple of years ago then gave that away and built my own 450 and recently built a 550 Hexacopter using DJI NAZA V2 controller and E300 motors. I have always had a keen interest in Model aircraft from many moons ago and very involved with photography and saw the drones(I must admit I hate that description) as a way to get some different images from different viewpoints. However, I still view myself very much as a newbie as I have not had much flying experience. At the moment i am modifying my Hex to take a 4S battery and fit a new 3D gimbal with a gopro hero 4 black to try some video filming. Always open to new ideas and advice on how to imporve the stability of the camera in flight.
  13. Hey Alan (and other participants/members), I want to thank you for creating and perpetuating this site. I hope to learn a lot from it/you and give back when I can. I'm a Software Sales guy by day and professional Musician by night who has been flying RC for +20 years. Mostly Slope soaring (competitively at times), Electric Hotliners, and RC Helicopters. I bought my first Quad (a little Hubson) about a year ago. I upgraded to a Syma X8W, then a DJI Phantom 3. I'm shopping for an Inspire and plan to get my Section 333 in the next few months. I would like to create/build a business employing my three loves; RC, Music, and Film. Any advice, thoughts, etc. will always be appreciated. I hope to network with like-minded folks from around the world. Rock on. Jim
  14. Hi Everybody, My name is Scott Lashmit, and i am a drone pilot! I live in MA and have begun my own business called Remotely Possible LLC. (@DronePossible & itsremotelypossible.com). We are presently in the vacuum of waiting for the 333 exemption from the FAA, but should be on track for April-June for acceptance! We do photo and video for events, and venues, as well as photogrammetry for 3d models and volumetrics. We are also actively looking into multiple spectrum analysis to partner with research universities and colleges, for in depth environmental analysis. In addition to my drone work i am a full time High school science teacher, who is passionate about STEAM education and advancing our public education system into the 21st century. We offer professional development to schools, teachers, and universities, as well as develop standard aligned curricula. We have developed a course for high schools to teach engaged students in a hands on way how to safely, legally, and professionally (in a professional manner) fly drones and develop novel uses for them in industry. We already have one school that will be running the course next year, and are looking to reach more schools. That is a "short" intro to who we are, thanks to Alan and all of the wonderful people at UAVcoach for putting together a wonderful and vibrant community of like minded droners!
  15. Over the past few weeks as I've launched my new aerial photography business in San Antonio, Texas, easily the biggest challenge I've faced is establishing price points for the various packages I'd like to offer. I've done A LOT of research on this, but the prices and packages vary widely across the country, so what is fair while introducing the technology/service to a new market area?. Currently there is only one other business in the area legally providing these services, and I'm still waiting for my 333 Exemption, so I've also had to balance my desire to promote the business and gain market share with the fact that I cannot yet charge for the services rendered. Considerations we can discuss include: business structure (LLC, Corporation, LLP etc), budget, target audience, partnerships etc. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and recommendations. In the meantime, check out my website: www.dougleeagleaerial.com
