  1. You may have heard that drones can sometimes be in the air for ten, maybe twenty minutes, or even more. So why is there such a wide range of different times? That’ s because drones’ flight times depend on numerous factors that customers must take into account when flying their devices. We will explore these different components in this article. Considering that lithium polymer batteries have become more widely used as the main power sources for drones, this article will be in the context of lithium polymer batteries. Various factors for flight time Weight It is vital t
  2. Dear all, Our group does battery research, specifically fast charging batteries and accurate state estimation, i.e, state of charge, time remaining etc. Drones are an interesting application, along with other EVs and consumer electronics like cell phones etc. We need suggestions for a drone that: Allows a flexible sized battery pack - This is our most crucial requirement. Most drones have a small, fixed sized battery pack that it works with. We want to have a drone that allows custom, multiple sized, shaped packs. Ex: DJI Matrice 100 . As per my understanding, the battery pack is v
  3. Hello, I have been getting extremely into drones over the past few years. I have become a pretty decent pilot and I feel that I am ready for an upgrade. I bought an Open-Source Cheerson CX-20 to "build" to understand more about how UAVs work (not just how to fly them). I've went ahead and done some normal upgrades like a gimbal, landing gear, and props but now I need some help. I would like to get a bigger battery to be able to support the added weight but I have no idea what to get? I am also looking to put telemetry into the drone and not quite sure what all I need. I would reall
  4. Here's a interesting good one for the team. I have a bid for a contract that part of the requirement of the contract is that the company provide a on call drone for emergency services that is CFR Part 107 compliant (55 lbs max) but that has a continuous flight time of up to 2 hours without landing or recharging batteries. Need some help from the crew out there. They also want the drone to have IR and Night Vision capability. It is a government bid and they say they will obtain all the required waivers. Any one know of what Drone systems would fly for 2 hours at a time and is Part 107 comp

    Battery and Prop

Hey guys, I built an f450 quadcopter model. I want to purchase another battery but I don't know how to go about choosing one. Any ideas, thoughts, or recommendations when it comes to batteries. Also, in my research for the right propellers for my drone I've come across two different designs. One is more rounded and smooth shaped. The other is more sharp and triangular in shape (it is this shape that I see on toy rc copters). I also see this prop shape on most youtube videos I see concerning drones. My question is does the shape of the propeller make a difference? Is one more efficie
  6. Hello all,I've just finished my Quad F450 build and as I tried to power it on for the first time my ESC's keep beeping and the FCU doesn't power on. It this happening cause of a faulty/wrong connection I did or do I have an issue with something from my components? My build consists of :1. Frame F4502. Flight Controller Unit KK2.1.53. Motors x44. ESC's x45. UBEC6. Battery7. Tx/RxThanks in advance for any help and info you can provide.
  7. Tilt-Shift/Diorama Mini Time Lapse in Strong Winds: Mavic Stability+Battery Test Hi, here’s an unplanned short video of a tilt-shift/miniature/diorama with the Mavic Pro. I was initially planning to see how well and how long it would hover under strong winds and okayish temps. Speeds in the video vary between 100x and 4000x plus a reversed clip. Editing was a lot more work than I expected, so I hope you enjoy watching it! Please check out my tutorial videos and other stuff as well! 8. Hey everyone, quick question; What battery can I use for my Eachine 250 Racer? It came with a 1300mAh 4S battery and I would like longer flight times. I understand that I should probably buy more batteries and another charger but I want to make sure I am buying quality parts.Any suggestions? Or should I just stick with having more stock batteries?
  9. I was recently given an S900 to fix up for a client. It came with a battery and a controller but I have hit a wall when figuring out how to charge the drone's 16000 mah Masione battery. My problem is with the balancing connector, it's a lot like a typical 6 cell balance connector but it's smaller and the plastic guiding pieces on the male end that fit in the grooves of the female end are a bit closer to center. I just spent two full days looking for something to make this work on the internet and visited multiple local hobby shops ... Please help!
  10. You just acquired the Alpha Unmanned Systems Power Board (PB) to make your piston engine UAV more reliable thanks to the back up battery while reducing or eliminating the battery care task. But now, which brushless generator should you choose for your UAV? Wich are the right RPMs to achieve the voltage I need? If you made yourself this questions continue reading this article. First of all, we have good news for you, all electric engines can act as motors or as generators, this means that if you apply electric energy to the engine it will give you work, but if you apply work
  11. We are conducting research into current practices for powering smaller UAVs/drones. Of particular interest are how choices are made among types of batteries. We would like to understand the decision process, as well as any important trends for these devices. We would also like to explore any unmet needs for better power sources. As part of our approach, we reach out to experts who can provide a unique perspective and are knowledgeable in this area. We are not seeking any confidential or proprietary information, just your high-level expertise, insights, and opinions. We do not wa
  12. I bought the Q500+ and charging takes a good 2 hours. I think I read 4K comes with faster charger. How fast does 4k batteries charge? Also hearing there are 3rd party options? 3rd party options that charge much faster and can put batteries in storage mode, 50% charged? Any info on battery charging options and where to buy them would be appreciated.
