  1. Hello All, introducing my self to this forum, recently just moved to the Northern Chicago Suburbs. Previously lived all my life in Albuquerque, NM. I am here in Illinois for my wife’s graduate program at DePaul University. Since I am looking for employment in the area I’ve had some down time so I decided to take the Pilot Ground School with Alan. I was very pleased with the courses overall and attribute my first time passing score of 90% to the material in the program. Thank you Alan and team for all the great information. I’ve flown drones for the past few years and love them as a hobby. I currently have a DJI Phantom 4 standard and Mavic Air. I would like to start with Real Estate Photography And move into Construction Monitoring and other areas as I progress. My previous work history has mostly been retail sales and last position was with an Architectural firm as a Project Coordinator for almost 4 years. I have a business management degree from UNM with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Studies. I also have no connections here in Illinois, but have been networking with several realtors. I am excited to start my own business in this industry. Regards, Benjamin Shirley
  2. Hey everyone, my name is Cody. I live in the Chicago area. My drone is a mavic pro. My drone-goals are two pronged. I'm looking for a place to collaborate and learn from as I create a successful aerial imaging solutions company. The other prong is to share and get feedback on the cool shots I capture. My background and passion are in photography, and through photography I've found a love to fly drones. I'll attach a shot from my trip to the Ozarks! Here's my website Can anyone point me in the best direction to learn about experiences with Thumbtack and/or DroneBase missions? -Cody realizingoutloud@gmail.com
  3. We have an office in Chicago and I have received some question regarding our ability to perform operations there. It appears there is (was?) a city wide ordinance banning drone use. The ordinance said if the operation has approval by the FAA under Section 333 (ordinance was from 2015) then it's acceptable. Looking at the maps, it appears most Chicago is totally fine to fly. Anyone have experience with this? Am I missing something when I'm looking at the map?
  4. I'm 18 years old, and I just graduated from high school. I have my part 107, and I used the Drone Pilot Ground School to help study. I am currently taking the Mapping 101 class. I hope to open up my new company this month.
  5. Fellow drone enthusiasts if anyone is from the Chicago area and has a Drone/UAS business or looking to start one I'd love to network and share some ideas!!
  6. Howdy! Corporate Pilot here, getting tired of hearing nothing but bad things about drones, so I'm joining to get the other "sides view". I don't mind sharing the airspace, as long as we both stick to our rules. Cheers!
