  1. I am working on a legal project, researching waivers or license(s) needed in order to fly a fixed wing and quad, both well OVER 55 lbs. Can you guide me to the link that addresses that (updated) info? (I think it used to be a 333, but that's gone.) Thanks!
  2. Hi, my name is Andre' Messina from New Orleans, La. I recently graduated from film school and am interested in flying my drone commercially as either an independent contractor or my own company. I am trying to figure out where to begin. Should I look at getting my sport pilot license? If so does anyone have a recommendations for schools? My other question would be I know it takes a long time to get the exemption, should I apply before obtaining a pilot license or wait until after I have the license? Thanks for any feedback. Hello Fellow Drone Pilots, Does anyone who has previous filed, or have received a FAA Exemption 333, ever had the opportunity to find out the status of their submittal at some point during the process? I have filed over 6 weeks ago and realize there is now many in-line since the end of December, but have no update or confirmation that it is in hand or processing. I have filed for my "N" number and have had correspondence on that, but nothing for the "333". I am also a licensed Private Pilot though not flying in the last 6-7 years and have a certificate, thanks to Alan, that I could provide to boost the acceptance, but there was no place I saw for this information initially. Any feedback is always appreciated.
  4. I swore I saw a side bar on an email I got from UAV Coach recently about how you may be able to fly commercially legally if you have sent off for your exemption but haven't received it yet. Is this true some how or do I still need to wait another 4 months to get my exemption before I can fly legally? Was I just seeing things? -Joe
  5. Seasoned aviator, long time RC aircraft pilot, new to Commercial UAV ops. Need help with this whole process, and here is my dilemma, any help will be appreciated: I live in a heavily saturated area, there are 7-12 overlapping vicinity conflicts, depending on which location I intend to shoot. (Using the 5NM towered airport / 3 NM uncontrolled airport / 2 NM heliport model) Do I need a COA/LOA with each of these operations before I can fly using my 333 exemption, or do I just need to work with the FAA towers for the relief to operate near the underlying heliports/airports/seaplane bases? I also live within the "Mode C veil," for a class "B" airport, how do I overcome the lack of a "Mode C" Transponder? Any help would be appreciated I have a lot of work available, but need to operate fully and completely within the confines of legality. Thanks again, Shawn
