About Me

  1. Hi everyone. My name is Damien. I live in Meridian, ID, where there are quite a few drone pilots buzzing about! Glad to be a part of that community, and now glad to be a part of this one. Let me first say thanks to Alan for a GREAT course on training for the Part 107 knowledge test. I read and studied the book on may first try, scored a 62%. Took the UAV Coach course, scored an 87% on my next try! The course is easy to follow and understand. Pointing every pilot I know towards it. My goal as a drone pilot is to shoot for real estate and construction, primarily. There's a lot of both here in the Treasure Valley. But I'd like to also do agriculture and nature work also. Not really interested in the wedding video scene. I currently own a Mavic 2 Zoom. I fly it as much as possible and practice, practice, practice. Currently not gainfully employed so have not obtained liability insurance, which runs around $900 annually, as far as I can see so far. My cars are less! But this is necessary for commercial work. So if anyone has any advice on where to find affordable drone insurance, I'm all ears! Glad to be a part of the community! I look forward to many constructive conversations!
  2. Hello everyone. I'm a longtime commercial photographer, videographer and novice drone pilot based in Boise, Idaho working on certification so I can shoot in urban areas and controlled-airspace when the need arises. I'm using a Mavic Pro.
  3. Hello, My name is Dan Inloes. I am a land surveyor by profession and am looking to stay on the "bleeding edge" of technology. I hold a bachelors degree in Geomatics, have about 4 years of professional work experience in the surveying field, about 10 years of mapping experience, I have flown and am professionally trained with the Trimble UX5 Aerial Rover, have about 20 hours on a DJI P3P, am a professional AutoCAD Civil 3D user with about 12 years of experience and plan on developing a UAS Department at my current employment, The Land Group, Inc. out of Boise, Idaho. My goals for UAS include developing workflows that work with surveyors, engineers, and the software that most of them use today in this market, AutoCAD Civil 3D, by using Autodesk products and Pix4d. I'm pleased to hear that this course that Alan has put together has successfully educated people that I know to the point of getting them past the FAA Exam. I'm about to get started and look forward to taking off. If anyone is interested in Surveying applications or has any questions regards map projections, coordinate systems, or anything survey related, feel free to get in touch! Thank, Danloes
