Question: Is there any prohibition for following a moving freight train at a reasonable altitude (100 feet) and shooting video? I ask this question because there are several dozen you tube videos showing drone footage of freight trains being followed in rail yards, trains followed on rails, etc. One video I have not yet made is catching a moving freight train near my home, crossing near the Ogeechee River Swamp. I wonder if flying over a train or hovering over it and recording video is in any way a federal "no-no." Jim, Intermediate Pilot
Does any drone pilot know if an ST+10 transmitter can be "mated" to FPV goggles? I ask this question because I would like to view what my Blade Chroma 1080P "sees," using the same goggles as one does flying the racing drones seen in youtube videos. As drone pilots know who fly the Blades, all they see is on the LCD screen, and that view pretty much is a pitiful thing. Screen glare and screen wipe out is typical on this transmitter. Surely, somebody besides me has often wondered why the technology has not been explored to give us the same view from 400 feet up and a 1000 feet downrange what the drone is seeing. Thanks, Jim, Intermediate Pilot
There is a website called The Atlas Group.biz which has an interesting topic being advertised as well as a fantastic new battery in development: an energized lipo flight battery. Take a look at what this company is developing for longer drone flights. One of the really cool developments is charging the battery while the drone is airborne using a laser.
Has any drone pilot flown his or her Blade Chroma 1080P to its maximum downrange distance (2500 meters = 1.5 miles) after taking down the geo fence? I've seen a few youtube videos purporting to have documented the maximum downrange but the pilots have not indicated if there is (A) a loss of video transmission signal for recording video or (B) a loss of flight signal connection to the transmitter. I ask this question because I have maxed out the distance to 1.5 miles by tweaking the geo fence. I am aware of the common sense rule of keeping my eye on the drone but am wondering if the transmitter can keep a "lock" on the drone even if the eyes cannot. My flight path over our farm could take the quad over 367 acres of woods, fields, as well as a 54 acre Carolina Bay natural pond, measuring 3/4 of a mile long and 1/2 mile wide. Just curious. Jim
