About Me

  1. I currently work as an independent contractor/consultant in an unrelated area providing statistical programming and analysis services for Pharmaceutical Clinical trials data. I am the definition of an absolute beginner and have no experience flying UAVs. I would like to become a UAV pilot and the goal is to start a side hustle. Where do I begin? What are some good resources for me to read up as a beginner? Do we have a FAQ on this forum that would cover a newbie like me? Thanks.
  2. Looking for a career change. Ex law enforcement and military..brand new to drones, looking to buy a halo pro,,
  3. Hey everyone. My name is Dustin and I hail from Midland, Michigan. I'm taking my Part 107 on Thursday (instructor never showed up for my previous test date) and am looking to get into commercial operations in my area. Right now I currently have a Yuneec Q500 4K and will be looking to do some real estate at first. I also have a P4 Pro that I'll be ordering here in the next few months in order to do some industrial mapping using something like DroneDeploy for agriculture (there's lots of farms around), construction, and other uses. I look forward to getting to know all of you. It looks like UAV Coach is a great spot to learn.
  4. Hey, my name is Jonathan. Just thought I drop in and see if there are any other fellow drone pilots near me. I live about 40 minutes north of Detroit! Also check out a few videos I've done in my area! My YouTube Thanks, Jonathan
  5. Hi everyone, My name is Jay and I work for RTV Inc. I am a professional photographer who has experience with weddings, portraits, and real estate photography. I currently shoot Google business tours for RTV on top of my everyday job as a manager/internet marketing coordinator for RTV. I am excited to be a part of this group as I myself am very interested in using UAV's for aerial photography, and I have seen the demand for this service grow exponentially. RTV offers the industries most robust virtual tour software as well as virtual staging software. We have real estate photographers through out the world who use our program. Our network of photographers has allowed us to expand our services and offer national photography services across the US and Canada. We hire photographers who use our virtual tour system to photograph properties for our national clients. A few of our those clients are Choice Hotels, Motel 6, La Quinta, Red Roof Inn, Starkey Hearing Centers and more. I am looking forward to being involved here on the forums and learning as much as I can. If you have any questions about the services RTV has to offer please visit or reach out to me directly at 231 943 1667 or
  6. I have been looking at quadcopters for a long time. Finally took the plunge and am just learning to fly and build. I look forward to the challenge of both. Glad I found this site to learn about all aspects of the hobby.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm a newbie to both the forum and the UAV world. About four months ago, I had decided to purchase a Yuneec Typhoon H but wasn't able to follow through. I'm back in the purchasing mode again and I'm trying to decide what I should buy. I am considering a Yuneec Typhoon 4k but wanted input from others. I'm going to wait until I'm a bit more seasoned to buy a Typhoon H Pro. About six months ago I picked up a DJI standard quad but wasn't overly impressed with how cheap the controller felt. I also didn't like the way it clamped on to your mobile device, which also made me realize I wasn't overly fond of using my iPhone 6S as the nav screen. While I am a fan of my Apple devices, they can be glitchy. Maybe I'm wrong for jumping to this conclusion (or feeling) so quickly. With that said, DJI versus Yuneec, any input? My ultimate goal is probably just aerial cinematography. For what it's worth, I went to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and was once a pilot. Life took me in another direction and I never flew commercially. I live on about 40 acres of land so I've got plenty of area to practice. Thanks
  8. Hello, my name is David, from Belleville, Michigan, and I'm getting addicted to drone’s/UAV's. Actually, after a suggestion from my brother, I’d like to combine my love for flying with my love for photography. Though I’d like to go out and get all the gear, knock on doors and say I’m in business, but I do understand there is a lot to do before getting to that point. Like attaining flight proficiency, developing a portfolio, researching all aspects of the business such as insurance, regulations, certifications, market, equipment, procedures, etc… Oh, did I mention flight training??? Yep, need to learn to fly and become proficient before anything else. That’s why I’m here. I’m hoping to learn, share and develop, with your help, my UAV flying career.
