  1. Hi from Australia, great to see an active forum with quality content. Have been involved in drones for around 5 years, built , repaired, flown and owned including Phantom 2, DJI f550, DJI F450, Blade 350QX, Yuneec, Currently use Inspire1 and DJI Phantom 4 Pro for commercial ops. Like the US, Australia's drone laws are in constant flux, here we are seeing some reasonable laws coming in, especially for commercial ops. Looking forward to learning and contributing.
  2. I was all ready to use Litchi Waypoints today. Started in P Mode and sent the P3S up about 30ft. Switched to F Mode and hit play on the Litchi App. But I kept getting "Requirements not met". I moved the P3S a few feet and tried again and got the same message. Is there anything else I can try? Also, when I finally gave up on waypoints..I decided to just fly and now I realize I was flying in F Mode. AT about 50% power, the RC started beeping and I noticed yellow lights were flashing on the back of the P3S. Is this a result of flying in F Mode? Maybe loss of calibration? I'm a newbie...so be gentle. Cheers, Wendy
  3. I finally fulfilled a promise to myself and purchased a Phantom 3. I decided, as a newbie, I should still go with the lower end model as I further hone my flight skills. After the maiden voyage, I can say it was well worth it. Nonetheless, I am glad I began my quad pilot training on a cheap, difficult-to-fly quad (Ares Ethos HD). It truly made me appreciate the ease and sophistication of the Phantom. To celebrate, I took an aerial selfie. Nothing to boast about, but it sure was fun.
  4. Decided to purchase the Litchi App for my Phantom 3 Standard. I made the purchase because of it's waypoints mode...much easier to use compared to GO DJI app. I'm a little nervous to try it for the first time. Hopefully I can give it a try this weekend. I'll keep you posted. Has anyone else tried Litchi and the waypoints function? If so, what is your opinion of the app?

  6. Thank-you Alan for the timely email this morning! I purchased a Phantom 3 Standard a week ago. I spent quite a bit of time watching instructional videos on YouTube and reading over the owner's manual a few times before taking my first flight. I found a large field at my local Community College that was deserted on a Sat. afternoon. My first few flights were easy and fun. Then my Phantom suddenly, it seemed, took off on me! Yikes! Because I had no experience, I started to panic which made the drone fly even crazier! My heart was pounding...I thought my drone (Vivian) was a goner. I was lucky enough to avoid a major crash. As a result, the next day I found a large, empty parking lot and spent time taking off and landing...NO HIGH FLYING. I found a great video on YouTube that provided some nice, beginner flight training skills and I purchased a $40 SYMA X5C to practice my flying skills. Moral of the story....Avoid self-inflicted heart attacks...be patient and learn how to fly before blindly blazing into the sky with your investment! )
  7. I have a P3 Standard and was wondering if anyone has an app recommendation? Of course, I already have to GO app. I'm curious about Airnest or Litchi. They both look great but are they? What are the pros and cons? Would love any input you can provide. Cheers, Wendy
