About Me

  1. Hi everyone, I am new to this community, just bought my first drone, working on my part 107 test... In the meantime I'd like to register the drone... for some reason I'm not able to pass the very first step. I give my email address, then wait for the activation link and it never comes. I checked my spam box, asked for another link, contacted the faa help... no answer, no mail in the spam... I am not sure what's wrong. Anyone has any idea for me? Thanks Claire
  2. I am preparing to file my first NOTAM at www.1800wxbrief.com. I have received my FAA Authorization to fly in a Class B area for a job and will be filing NOTAMS prior to every flight so need to get this correct. One thing is not clear. One of the first things required is my "Aircraft ID or Registration Number" or as they describe it: "A name you assign to the UOA." In searching UAV Coach site, it says: "Every aircraft registered to operate in the United States has a unique ID that begins with the letter N." The UAV (Phantom 4 Pro) registration card I have for my drone does not have any number that begins with a "N" . So is this Aircraft ID something I just create myself? Or am I missing something here?
  3. Recently had DJI "repair" my P4 Pro. They sent me a new one. Of course this new one has a new Serial Number which doesn't match the Serial Number I registered previously to get my Certificate of Registration from the FAA. Is there an easy way to update that Serial Number online? Not finding anything. Should I simply re-register this as an new drone through the Drone Zone? Probably the case. But I wonder how do I report that I no longer own the original one? I would hate for DJI to recycle the previous drone they ended up keeping, someone buy it and then it crashes or something and they track back that registration number to ME! I know, being a little paranoid but ya never know.......
  4. As of December 12, 2017 all drones are required to be registered with the FAA. If you require registration labels to affix to your drone then please take a look at DroneRegistrationLabel website. We have been issuing FAA compliant labels since December 2015.
  5. Hi folks! I'm doing a "soft launch" of a 5-minute industry survey that I'll be sending out to the masses over the next several days: https://uavcoach.typeform.com/to/P2TkMe Would appreciate your responses! Individual results are kept anonymous, but the aggregate survey data will be shared with everyone by May 2016.
  6. I applied for a Section 333 exemption some time ago. I'm hoping for a positive outcome to that soon. My thoughts now go to registration, getting a N-number, etc. Does anyone have any experience with this process? I don't want to wait until March, when website registration may be possible. Thanks.
  7. Someone just emailed this to me from the FAA's website. Thought these guidelines were interesting: https://www.faa.gov/uas/law_enforcement/media/LEO_guidance_card.pdf
