About Me

  1. Hi, everyone! New member here from Sandwich, Il. I'm interested in aerial photography/video, creative and real estate. Also hoping to learn more about mapping and surveying in the future. Looking forward to meeting like-minded people! Thanks for having me!!
  2. My new reel for the year. Shot mostly with Mavic 2 pro and BMPCC 4K. Let me know your thoughts/critiques 😃
  3. Two weeks ago I was in Vietnam with my fpv quadcopter and a mavic air. Before going there I checked the laws on uav coach page (https://uavcoach.com/drone-laws-in-vietnam/) and I thought "how cool would it be if my video end up on that page? But in order for that to happen, I really had to step up my videography skills. So I've spent around 50 hours if not more just on this edit and since I spent so much time, now I'm thinking, this can't be for nothing, I want everyone to watch it and think: "damn, I wanna go visit Vietnam with my drone too". So here it is... I'm sharing the link of my video
  4. Several months back I got some good advice from a number of you on photo editing programs. I settled on Lightroom CC and Photoshop. Now I need to look into a good basic video editing program. What are your recommendations? Thanks much!
  5. At Airilo, we believe in the power of collaboration. We developed a network of drone pilots that stretches across the country in order to offer exceptional videos to real estate agents and vacation rental owners. This network allows us to efficiently deliver our products, but it also provides inspiration for new and better ways of doing business. Especially in real estate videography, we saw sharing videos with clients and getting paid in a timely manner as a common pain point. I can attest to the hassle of emailing Youtube links to share videos with clients, sending Dropbox folders to downloa
  6. Link Here: https://forum.dji.com/thread-169964-1-1.html Hi all, I have listed some TIPS when capturing drone footage during the Fall season. The guide talks about PL filters, sensors, trees, birds, and LUTS in the link above. Hopefully some of you might find it useful. THanks for giving it a look!
  7. Hey all, I'm amazed at how many great drone videos are out on YouTube now, even within in a sub-category like agriculture/farming. Any thoughts/suggestions/experiences on how to make drone videos stand out from the pack and ultimately attract more views? (My latest farming vlog is below for reference of what I am already doing.)
  8. Hi All, Been compiling some recent footage and thought I'd share. Appreciate any thoughts, input, etc. Of course, feel free to subscribe to my YouTube as I hope to continue to post more videos in the future. Thanks for checking it out! Cheers, Adam
  9. Checkout this testcase for live video streaming from a UAV: http://uav200.com/experience/#ansur-nexus-II-aviator-uav200 Using ASMIRA from raidosystem.com the UAV can be flown with visual transmission even with very low bandwidth. A preview of the video takes can be delivered in real time concurrently to the "normal" live camera view for the pilot, thus you can see the footage while the bird is still airborne.
  10. I was approached by a friend of mine who is looking for a filmmaking drone pilot for a commercial shoot on a wind farm near the Denver, CO area. I am not available for the job but told him I would put out a call in the forum here to see if I could connect him with any folks in the area. Please contact me if you're interested and I will connect you with him.
  11. Occasionally, a client requests exterior-only aerial video work. These can be fun and sometimes challenging, especially when the property is tightly covered in foliage, not very large, and located along the 2nd windiest bay on the planet. Even the calm days are breezy here!
  12. Hello – I have been flying for about 6 months now. After many years shooting commercial photography, I became interested in videography and now in this airborne camera. I quickly began to see the potential of drones across many different industries. I passed my 107 exam 2 weeks ago and plan to start shooting real estate and whatever else will lend itself to some awesome aerial imagery in order to make this a full-time gig. I live just north of the recently hard-hit Houston area and was wondering if anyone has any experience or advice on how to connect with some of the insurance adjus
  13. Hi All,I am looking to get an affordable long range video setup equivalent to the DJI Phantom 3/4 or better.I recently got a Cheerson CX-20 opensource. Which includes a mount for a GoPro.The is a cheap knock off of a Phantom, so the camera and transmitter would need to be of equivalent size/weight.My main goal is learning Arial Video and Photography. So this is a training platform to see what I can do, and decide if I need to save a few grand for a DJI, or end up finding out I can get buy just fine with a DIY setup.Camera Pre-Reqs:Should record 1080p minimum to a local SD card.Should be able to
  14. Was asked by Alan Perlman, where I fitted in here. I am a forty five year professional photographer who was always feet on the ground. I did use a fifteen meter telescopic mast for specialised aerial photography as it was cheaper than hiring a helicopter. My move to drones in my senior days is to enable me to film and shoot stills from one piece of kit. As soon as we mange to sell our property in Brazil we will be buying a cruising yacht and set off on my lifes last and hopefully great adventure. Exciting video will play a major part in this venture and drones will deliver what I nee
  15. Hello everyone. I'm a longtime commercial photographer, videographer and novice drone pilot based in Boise, Idaho working on certification so I can shoot in urban areas and controlled-airspace when the need arises. I'm using a Mavic Pro.
  16. This is the extended version of a teaser video I've posted here before, hope you enjoy it, I'm experimenting with creating more engaging videos mixing different types of footage and varying the pace of the shots. This was shot during a weekend roadtrip to the Alentejo, during Carnival weekend a couple of weeks ago. Let me know if you'd like to see more of this and be sure to subscribe my youtube channel to get the latest videos I post.
  17. I'm looking to become an unmanned pilot in the video/photography market with real estate and weddings. Do you really need to take the course or can you simply get all the study guides? Anybody know the answer? I just bought a DJI Phantom 3 4k. Going to register it today. Another question. If I'm not starting commercial yet should I register it as a hobbyist or commercial if I'm planning to later on? Thanks in advance.
  18. Flying my toy around I noticed a house was getting ripped down and watched for a bit. Story I am hearing is an older couple sold the house and land around it to a developer. This was recorded over two days and played around with an editor a bit on it. Not a professional job at all and still need some practice on control of the drone and camera but thought I would share even though it is not as cool as a ocean waves on a New England coast line with gulls and pelicans (yea Bert, I am jealous ). Always open to any suggestions and critiques. Drone is a Phantom 4
  19. Hi community, I've had a great time with this course, and highly recommend it to others who are looking to learn about or fine tune their video editing. My aunt is in the process of putting her house on the market, so it was a perfect opportunity to test the waters compiling a real estate demo video. I'm using this experience as a dry run, to get a feel for how I would go about a project for a paying customer. I'm still tackling a few different learning curves (flying a new drone, testing camera settings, working in post for the first time), but I think they are each progressing n
  20. SOUND ON!. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNU_WaCSV8A My latest video taken with my older hexacopter (the FC on the newest had a tantrum...!!! on that day. It is fixed now). The gimbal worked very well, even if at 60-70 metres from the ground the apparently very light wind became something else..... the views are beautiful and the wines produced by the owner, a very good friend of mine, are excellent. Enjoy! I used as a sound track one of my compositions : "Pink grapes"( from my CD "Impressions", Portugal, 1998). It seems to fit as a glove, for some reason. Cheers from Br
  21. Just staring to get the hang of shooting video with my Bebop, feedback is very welcome. One thing the colour is a bit off as someone did the editing and went a little overboard!
  22. Hello all, Greetings from the Mid Atlantic, glad to be here. Just a quick introduction for everyone; I grew up around Army aviation and when I was born my crib overlooked the flight line at Schofield and I have been hooked on aviation ever since. Ive always had a passion for flight. When I was a late teen I completed my private pilot ground school but was never able to fund my flight hours. That is something I hope to finish. Regardless, I've been building & flying line of site UAS vehicles for about 5 years now, mostly fixed wing, I have been an amateur photographer for a long

    Vibration dampeners

I have just finished one of my vibration dampeners. It is very effective and not exactly easy to build. It is based on the Secraft design but with several differences. It can support 2 kg and it weighs 36 grams. I used 1.2 mm thick polycarbonate sheet, 1.2 mm thick 6061 T6 aluminium alloy sheet, 16 x 10 x 3 silicone O rings (55 duro) and PVC studs which I fabricated using the lathe. I am going to use two of these to completely isolate from vibrations the platform of my next V6 hexacopter, They are are still present, even if in minor quantity, after all the motors and propellers have been
  24. While on a weekend away in the Alentejo region in the south of Portugal, I shot this video over 2 days to capture how beautiful this area is. Hope you enjoy, it was great fun flying, filming and editing this one. This was shot with a DJI Phantom 3 Standard (for the aerial), a Canon 100D for some of the ground level shots and, because I didn't have any other camera with me, the night shots were shot on an iphone 5S.
  25. This is big news and an additional unique value for DJI products. If I understand this right, a drone pilot with a following on Periscope will be able to instantly and seamlessly broadcast the video live to anyone who patches in to their Periscope channel. Big prospects for sporting events, family events, and local news stories. This is a disruptive innovation that local news stations should jump on. Or we can have citizen news reporters use this. More thoughts? http://blog.seattlepi.com/techchron/2016/05/09/periscope-plans-to-allow-you-to-broadcast-live-from-a-drone/
