It's significantly different. I don't like not having situational awareness, but the feeling of cockpit-like flying is a phenomenal experience. It was also pretty humbling too. FPV flying, at least the kind of racing people are doing these days, is TOUGH NUGGETS.

Flying a multi rotor via FPV is not any harder, but like Alan says situational awareness is somewhat reduced. I've clipped trees that way and had a few minor crashes, but nothing major. It was always at my local AMA site where flying FPV is legal. But if you fly above the trees it's pretty much a non issue. On a related note I find flying fixed wing via FPV is much easier and way more fun. I'll take my Sport Cub S through the same indoor course as the nano quads. It's wicked fun.
