Time until results

Recommended Posts

I'm curious what amount of time you tell the clients it will take to get their results back? It seems the 3D imaging would be several days, but how quickly does the mapping go, and how much time would you add for various analysis of them? Is the processing something you can do on site for the customer, or do you generally take the data back to your office and process it?

@YawTech

It depends.

  • on the size and scope of the project
  • how quickly they want the results back
  • if they need a specific type of output

With both DD and MME you can pay for quicker processing. The modeling typically does take longer to do than the maps, but if you just want a model that is spit out by DD/MME is actually is pretty quick compared to self processing (unless you have a lot of computing power in house).

Our usual workflow is to take the data back to somewhere we have a fast internet connection, upload immediately, and wait for results. A flight we flew yesterday morning is already finished processing. It was a 15-20 acre site for a surveyor who wants to import the elevation data into Autocad and wants the data Monday AM.

Usually we aren't doing analysis to it once we get it in the format they need. Most of our customers are experts in their industry and just plug the data we give them into their preferred software packages / use the maps to make decisions, etc.

wich app would you consider the best for making size, volumen and area calculations?
