Should employer pay for employees part-107

Recommended Posts

If employee working for an employer in the creative field, where they want the employee to use drones to capture photo/video for commercial use, should they pay for the employee to get the certification? Should the employee just pay for the certification on their own? Of course we don't want to fly illegally, or get into trouble.

If you don’t have a 107 and an employer has a job a drone operator and you don’t have a 107 then your not qualified to apply.  If you already work there then you can have a conversation on who pays for what, however, it’s $150, I suggest you just get and worry about who paid for it later.

It is just like any other professional license.  You pay for the license and it allows you the privilege of working for anyone, anywhere, anytime.  (You should remind your employer of that)
