Just joined. I am a retired surveyor interested in the use of drones for the inspection of high buildings and structures; also in connection with ground survey.

Looking to learn and welcoming tips and advice

Waiting for delivery of a Hubsan 502S

Welcome, @Cecil,

ooo the hubsan is a great little drone to learn on! You've come to a great place, you'll find lots of helpful information in the forums on 3D photgrammetry, orthomosaics, and volumetric mapping!

Remotely Possible,

Many thanks for the encouragement - I look forward to picking up tips as I go along. Currently I have a Hubsan X4 H107C which is great fun but not quite the right tool for a job I have in mind which is photographing in detail all four elevations of a 70 ft high medieval massive masonry church tower that is in need of repair. I am hoping that with GPS position hold and altitude control the 507S will enable the examination I have in mind.

Anyone else tackled this sort of project and if so how and with what results?
